2007 Marin County Pinot Noir

Marin County Pinot Noir

FIRST CUT TASTING NOTE --Typical of the vintages, this '07 is less delicate and precise than the '06 and a little more concentrated and exuberant (/Californian). More plush and palate coating than the '06, filled out with warmer cherry/tamarind and brown sugar elements. Already showing the sandalwood and tea notes typical of this vineyard. The floral notes and mace of the '06 are less apparent upon opening the '07 at this early stage of its evolution. For the time being, a lengthy decant is advised to bring the more subtle aspects of the '07 into focus.

The PinotFile 4/23/10

"Moderate in color. Lovely perfume of earth-dusted cherries, lavender and pear. Delicious cherry fruit with a sidecar of sandalwood, oak and root beer. Medium-bodied with suede tannins and understated acidity. This wine has pinotosity. Less acidity than the 2006 vintage version with more cajones and the best yet from this small producer. Definitely worth a look. Very good." Further designated as having an "excellent price/quality ratio."
