2005 Shenandoah Valley Syrah
The 2005 Syrah is made in a bigger, riper, more plush style than the 2004. Boysenberry and mocha aromas are first out of the glass. With time, more subtle sage, tarragon and anise aromatics emerge. The palate is smooth with supple tannins. It builds from a cool wet stone entry to a meatier midpalate, picks up blacker tar/licorice elements toward the end and finishes on a lingering custard note. Throughout, the wine carries an undertone of the granite in which it is grown.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ALL MY 2005 WINES, AND ALL FUTURE VINTAGES, ARE BOTTLED WITHOUT A FOIL CAPSULE WHICH I REGARD AS POINTLESS, WASTEFUL AND ANNOYING.
